President of the Health Tourism Council Assist. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Savaşan published a message on the 35th anniversary of the death of Dr. Fazıl Küçük, the leader of the Turkish Cypriot freedom struggle.
Ahmet Savaşan stated that Dr. Küçük left his mark as the “Turkish Cypriot Leader” in an important period of time when the Cyprus events echoed around the world and left a mark in history, and underlined that Küçük prioritized social interests over personal interests throughout his life.
KÜÇÜK HAS AN INDELIBLE PLACE IN HEARTS...
In 1931, Dr. Küçük, who started to write columns in various newspapers and made a great effort to enlighten and organize the people with the newspaper Halkın Sesi, which he started to publish in 1943, proved that he was a good organizer as well as a physician and a man of ideas by leading the founding of many defense organizations.” Savaşan emphasized that Dr. Fazıl Küçük was a rare hero who earned an indelible place in the hearts with his populism, determination to struggle and self-sacrifice and courageously undertook the leadership of the Turkish Cypriot People in the most critical period of its history.
THE UN NEEDS TO INITIATE A RESULTS-ORIENTED PROCESS...
Pointing out that Dr. Küçük always expressed that the Turkish Cypriot People could not exist without Turkey, Savaşan stated that Küçük organized the struggle for existence, stood resolutely against ENOSIS and paved the way for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Underlining that the struggle of Dr. Fazıl Küçük, who was a pioneering leader for the Turkish Cypriot People, should be well understood and explained to the growing generations, Ahmet Savaşan underlined that in order to reach a fair, comprehensive and sustainable solution on the island and for peace and stability to prevail in the region, the UN should see the realities and initiate a timetabled and result-oriented process.
At the end of his message, Savaşan said, ”We remember the late Dr. Fazıl Küçük with deep sorrow and longing, and we bow with respect in front of his sacred memory.
